Designed for a national architectural contest, the project of the IAB (Brazilian Institute of Architects) headquarters in Tocantins had to include in a relatively small plot the IAB office, an auditorium, an exhibition hall, library, and an office building. The solution found was to place the building volumes on the back side of the plot leaving the front as an open space. Due to budget limitations, cost-effective materials such as reinforced concrete structure, aluminum window frames and brise-soleil panels were chosen. The buildings are designed with rainwater collecting systems. One of the highlights of the headquarters is a terrace garden on the top of the building.
